April 13th Meeting Announcements

This was our last meeting of the year- and our last round of announcements.

Now on to the announcements::

• End of the Year banquet is this Wednesday, April 21st at Napolotanos. All Active members are welcome- not sure if you're active? Email Audrey ASAP!
• Also: Due Wednesday night by Midnight are the new chair position applications. All chairs are up for grabs for next year. This is a great way to get more involved with SWE, and gain some leadership experience at the same time. Email the application (found on the main page) to swe.uf@gmail.com!
  
• ASCE and IEEE Pigfest is April 22 at 6pm. at Zach's house(ASCE Canoe Captain): 314 NW 2nd Ave. There will be lots of fun, drinks, food and of course, roast pig(It is pigfest after all!) From ASCE regarding the event: "This year we're doing it big!" So don't miss out!
  
• E-Cup is also April 22nd at 11am at Flavet Field. Come support SWE and have some fun!
• College of Engineering Survey is up and waiting your opinions, thoughts and comments so go fill it out!! This is a great and EASY way to get your voice heard. So head on over to ufbec.org/survey! Now!

T-Shirt Design Contest!

• Submit Designs before next meeting
• We will vote on a design for the new shirts for summer or fall
• Need a basic UF Society of Women Engineers (so keep that in mind)

Introduce a Girl to Engineering! When? Thursday, March 25th, 9am-2pm.
We are looking for volunteers for these time slots:

• 9-10:30am: Talk about your engineering major
• 11:45-12:45pm: Guide girls to lab tour then to the Reitz
• 1:15 pm to 2:15 pm: Hands-on Activity

Times are tentative, more info will be sent out later. Email outreach.sweuf@gmail.com if interested.

SWE Outreach We are tentatively going to Howard Bishop Middle School on Thursday, April 1st from 9:30 to 12:10pm. We need girls to talk about their engineering major and help with a hands-on activity.

Dodge Balls for Haiti! Hosted by Beta Upsilon Chi, March 28th at 2pm. There's a 10$ entry fee with both men and women's brackets. First place gets $100, second place gets 50$. Get more info at the facebook page "Dodge Balls for Haiti" or by calling Adam Kronebusch at 321-223-0706

More exciting announcements from the world of SWE....

• EWEEK! All this week:: Today is E-Fair, so stop by the grand ballroom between 9 and 12 and help us out! Today is also field day! Held on Flavet field, there will be games every half hour! Come out and support SWE in our quest for the E-Week Cup!
• SWE Mentoring: Tea Party! Our next mentoring event will be a Tea Party, on March 4th from 12 to 2 in the afternoon in Weil 307. Deans Abernathy and Linder will be attending as well as female professors from various departments, and as always, refreshments will be served! Have any questions or know female engineering professors you think should attend?? Email Mallory at soy.mal@gmail.com
• Schlumberger Info Session:: TODAY! February 17th at 6:15pm in MAE-B 211(Our meeting room). Hear about their opportunities and grab some free food while you're at it.
• GrOWE:: Social Friday, February 26th at 12 pm. Tatu, in University Plaza on University Avenue(the strip with Copper Monkey and Pita Pit) If you're a grad student or interested in grad school, please join us for lunch- Appetizers are on us!
• Bowling with Chi Epsilon:: Chi Epsilon, the Civil and Environmental Honors Society, will be bowling with CH2M Hill on the night of Tuesday, March 23rd and has invited us to attend- if we can get enough people to sign up. Contact Catie at c.fox@ufl.edu for more contact info.

New Meeting Location, and Fundraiser Wednesday!!!

Attention SWE!!!

Our Third General Body Meeting of the Semester will be held tomorrow, Tuesday February 2nd, in MAEB 211 (The building that is behind the Reitz). Same time, 6:15, different place.

We also have another fundraiser coming up very shortly: This Wednesday, February Wednesday Feb. 3rd, 2010 from 6pm-8pm at Karma Cream (1025 W. Univ. Ave., Gainesville, FL 32601 Next to Mothers Pub and across from the Bank of America) Come enjoy some ice cream (dairy and non-dairy selections), coffee, tea, malts, organic beer, cookies, and cupcakes! All you have to do is come and enjoy the treats and mention SWE!!

Announcements, Jan 19th Meeting

Highlights from our first meeting of the semester::

• SWE Points: New System! In order to be an active member, you must accumulate 3 meeting points, 3 internal/external points, and 1 corresponding/fundraising point.
  
• Gators United for Haiti is collecting checks in the EWB (Engineers without Borders) office. They are located in Weil 207, and office hours are on their website here. Please help them reach their goal of $50,000!
• Fundraising Opportunity: Running concessions at the basketball game, Wednesday January 27th, 4pm. Email Lisa at lisaferrera@gmail.com. We need at least 6 girls, so please come out and support SWE!
• Link to Pink Gymnastics: UF vs LSU. Friday January 29th at 7pm. We will meet for dinner at 5:30 and then walk over to the O-Dome. The first 500 fans get free T-Shirts.
• E-Week 2010 Social: Friday Feb 12th at Rum Runners- free cover to engineers! Theme? Decades! E-mail Stephanie Weber steph224@ufl.edu if you're interested in helping out.
